How can a Chiropractor help…

I have said it many times, “at Berman Chiropractic we do not treat pain.”  So many people suffering with pain do seek chiropractic care.  Secret … no matter the reason you come here, I will always be checking to see if you have a subluxation in the spine – a specific condition that only chiropractors are trained to locate, analyze and correct.

Remove the subluxation, allow the body to receive and act on the messages that the body relies on, the greater the possibility for achieving improved health.

The wisdom that your body already has within it, maintains you!  It has been in existence since the moment you were born.  Chiropractic teaches that a vertebral subluxation (VS) interferes with the transmission of that wisdom.

Whether you have a VS or two or more, only your chiropractor can determine.  Whether it causes the condition that you are seeking chiropractic care for is an entirely different question.  One thing for sure … if you have a VS you are not maximizing your ability to heal.

Are you gonna get what you want?

When a person comes to my office for the first time, often  they are referred by a friend or family member that is, or has been, a patient of mine.

Besides the reason(s) that people seek my care, more important is that the new person comes to see me by virtue of the trust of and value in their friend’s judgment.  They trust their friend’s judgment about Dr. Marc being able to deliver what they want or need.

Naturally, I always want to live up to that expectation, thereby reinforcing the network of trust amongst my community.

New patients usually have a preconceived notion of what a Chiropractor does.  If that idea is different than what I actually do, then even with the trust that brought them to my office in the first place, there could be a “disconnect.”

I really, really want that new person to stay connected!  I want to bring optimal wellness to as many men, women and children as I can!

To prevent any misconceptions,  I attempt to create an image of what they will experience before they actually set foot in my office.  That is one of the functions of this  website.

Many times, other chiropractic websites offer information about all the conditions treated by Chiropractors (the focus of which is usually pain) as well as tools, therapies or state-of-the-art equipment being offered.

My focus is very specific and unique.  I determine if a person has any Vertebral Subluxations (VS).  I feel very confident about my abilities to detect and correct VS.   For your information, Chiropractors have been focusing their attention on the correction of subluxations since 1895!

If I were the chiropractic patient,  I would want the doctor to be focused on what he or she knows best.

When there is interference from your “backbone”  along the nerves,  it may be difficult to focus on other things.  I make sure that I get my spine checked regularly in order to maintain focus…on the big important things as well as the small and perhaps not-so-significant things.

That’s right!  As your Chiropractor,  I am committed to optimizing my potential at focusing on being the best I can be for you.

Confusing Choices

Choices

I just read an article that promotes a concept or philosophy that I have been trying to promote for a long time.

Too many choices are often confusing. It sometimes is better to be given less choices but with guidance and supervision.

In health care we, as patients, want to have the best care possible. With too many experts proclaiming their expertise, making the correct choice is no easy task.

One of the biggest attractions for my choosing chiropractic as a career was that it offered a fundamental need for every person. The need to insure that all systems within our body communicated with every other system.

Remember the telephone game?  Someone whispers something into the
next persons ear and the message is changed by the end. Not too funny if this is going on in the body when the messages are vital!

According to chiropractic philosophy and science, messages are blocked in the presence of a vertebral subluxation.

If you have a subluxation, the choice is simple. Get rid of it.

By making chiropractic care a part of your wellness program, the body can function better by improving communication of its messages. If the vital information is being communicated properly then your choices of what you need to do to be healthy becomes easier.

I like easy.

Feeling better or functioning better

I am sitting in a doctor’s office. I am not a
patient. I am waiting for my wife to finish with her eye exam.  As I look around the office, I can’t help but wonder how these patients’ expectations differ from my patients’ expectations.

I guess they expect to feel better or see better.

At the chiropractor’s office, they probably expect to feel better. They probably are not considering that they might see better, or hear better, or digest better, or breathe better.

Why not?  Because chiropractors are put in the musculoskeletal box of back, neck or shoulder, etc., relief.

Even though the very first chiropractic adjustment apparently corrected a hearing problem.

When people come to see me, I educate
them about the benefit of chiropractic care … for life! The next time they sit in my reception area, they will be anticipating some life changing event that may not
be as obvious as seeing better but perhaps just as significant.

I want everyone to get what they expect from
chiropractic. That is the minimum of what I offer. I also want them to get more than what they expect. That
is the beauty of chiropractic, it is also its greatest challenge! How do
I educate people to realize that by adjusting their spine, an entire sequence
of events is set into motion that will allow their body to function better than before
they received their adjustment?

I try not to talk much about symptoms because I want the
focus of chiropractic to be on optimum function. I want their symptoms to resolve and I have confidence
that they will. But it is too easy to confuse the chiropractic objective with the medical objective.

These patients in the ophthalmology office are going to
receive a great service and benefit. The people who are waiting in their chiropractor’s office
are also going to receive a great service and benefit … hopefully, they will feel better, certainly they will function better.
